Location

LSO is on my farm near Yass, NSW, Australia. It has excellent dark skies (observed dark sky down to 6.22 mag visual limit , at least Bortle 2.3) with only minor glow from Canberra, 65km away to the south and with a hill blocking light from Yass.

Sitting above 560 metres the site has excellent views East, North and South. A hill blocks the west from about 20 degrees down, but crescent Moon and Venus are possible (see below).

Winters routinely average below zero overnight and most years it snows (an unusual event for residential Australia!)
